Advocacy

Hornby is a very locally-run community. There are countless local volunteer committees managing things like buildings, land, and even outhouses. Thanks to the efforts of community members sitting on dozens of committees, the island enjoys a rare degree of local decision making.

HIMBA members sit on and report to a number of committees that manage our trail systems. Sasha LeBaron and Brian Kittleson currently sit on the Mount Geoffrey Regional Park Steering Committee. Thanks to their efforts the interests of cyclists using the trail network in this park are well represented. Other HIMBA members have spent time on this committee in the past. In fact, there has been a bicycle representative (or two or three) on this committee ever since 1995.

HIMBA members have also had input on the Road-Side Trails Committee and the Mt. Geoffrey Escarpment Provincial Park Committee.
