What an event!!! We had about 20 riders show up for our HIMBA-Q dual slalom and hot dog event on Tuesday the 25th. The result was a fun afternoon of racing, socializing, and eating.
Local rider Trevor Kerr came out on top of the men’s grouping. Not only did Trevor set the fastest qualifying time, but he also went on to win the Men’s head-to-head racing, and was the oldest rider in the field.
In the boys 12 and under field, we had an exciting final race between Ty Gunn and Oliver Reid. Ty was leading in the final stretch of the lower slalom section when he had a crash, but because he had not lost a race yet–we used a double knockout format–he had the right to race again. After Ty got cleaned up and bandaged, the boys headed back up the hill. On the second run, Oliver was able to squeak out the win for the overall victory.
In the women’s category, Tess Armstrong beat out Gjoa Andrichuk for the win. While we only had two women in the category, these ladies did a lot of practice runs and a bunch of fun racing. Tess also took the opportunity to beat her dad Marc in a father-daughter race.
