Joe King MTB Skills Park

HIMBA is having a world-class Skills Park built at the current pump-track site at Joe King Park. This is massive & truly exciting news. This park has been a work-in-progress for decades & we’re all stoked to finally see it coming to fruition. HIMBA has hired a builder with 20-years experience building Skills Parks all over Canada as well as building & maintaining the amazing bike parks on Whistler Mountain as well as those in the village. The builder has already had a site visit & below is a rough lay-out of his design plans for our park. The current site will be leveled & a new pump track + 3 skills lines will be built, ranging from Beginner to Dark Blue (Advanced-Intermediate). There’s going to be something for everyone there.

This Skills Parks is a huge boost to all-things-MTBing on Hornby, an amazing addition to our trail system & a massive benefit for the local kids, adults & visitors alike. HIMBA has funds to put towards the costs involved – paying the builder, securing accommodation for him for the 2 weeks he’ll be here building, renting a machine for him to work his magic & bringing in some more clay for the project.

Donations
This is also a great opportunity for our wider HIMBA community to donate towards the building & maintaining of this Skills Park. Any & all donations, from $5 – $500, will go a long way to helping HIMBA during this process. No donation is too small! (Or too large). Donations may be made by cheque to the Hornby Island Mountain Bike Association and passing it on to our President, Jill Candlish. Alternatively, in the next few weeks we will be setting up an on-line donation button on the HIMBA website.
